It is with regret that as a result of falling membership the decision has been taken by the Blandford Heart Forum Committee that the Group will be closed down with immediate effect.

Blandford Heart Forum was formed in 1994 by Isabel Weiner with the assistance of NHS professionals to help cardiac patients and their spouses/carers following a cardiac procedure and proved to be a highly successful forum in helping cardiac patients over a difficult time, providing comfort, companionship and information at a time of need. Our falling membership has partly come as a result of improved cardiac procedures by the NHS hospitals in our area facilitating a faster recovery period. Existing members are getting older of course and the difficult decision had to be taken at our final meeting in September 2016

The Heart Support Group was formed in 1994 by patients, their carers and local health care professionals after the successful running of two Cardiac Rehabilitation Courses at Blandford Hospital.

We are an active group of former heart patients who aim to improve the quality of life for ourselves and fellow heart patients and their families. The group is primarily intended for people living in Blandford and the surrounding villages. The Group is affiliated the British Heart Foundation - the heart research charity.

In 1996 we were pleased to welcome Dr Simon Winterton Head of Cardiology at Dorset County Hospital who agreed to become our Honorary President. Dr Winterton gives his support to the group.
